SR. HARDWARE SYSTEMS/BOARD DESIGN ENGINEER
Status: Professional Exempt
SUMMARY: The successful candidate will be assigned as a member of a team responsible for designing/integrating an embedded hardware/software system to control the functionality of a Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC). Must have working knowledge and skills in the following areas: developing board level digital and low noise analog circuits; system level integration of hardware and software; Ability to translate product requirements into product designs; effectively interpret and convey technical information, leveraging other resources as required to complete projects; effectively prioritize and manage workload.
Minimum Requirements
- B.S in Electrical Engineering
- 7+ years experience in board level design and debug
- Experience with design & schematic capture tools
- Embedded code design, assembly, C
- I2C, SPI buses
- Mix-signal (Analog and Digital) circuits ADC
- Familiarity with analog circuits, DC/DC, fan controllers, sensitive signals, low noise design, battery/power circuits
- Switching power supply design experience helpful, but not required
- PCB physical mixed-signal design tools and simulation a plus
- Proficiency in using emulator/simulator, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, DVM, etc. Basic manual dexterity (solder, crimp)
- Familiarity with; eCos - open source runtime system; RTOS - Realtime operating system; DSP a plus
- LabVIEW programming a plus
- Basic Windows office computing applications
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Modification and Integration of existing embedded control hardware to scale up existing system
- Design & schematic entry of microcontroller board
- Microcontroller firmware development
- Manage board designs through outside PCB layout facility, including specification of PCB layout constraints to achieve required electrical performance
- Provide all relevant documentation including BOM, design simulations, user guide, functional specifications & layout design guidelines
