Summary: To be an integral part of a catalysis development team, preparing catalysis samples and performing relevant experiments using online mass spectrometry. Responsible for developing experimental techniques for the investigation into the reaction characteristics of propane and other hydrocarbon gases, over a variety of active metals. Investigations will consist of both reforming and combustion chemistry.

Work will include both the testing and evaluation of commercially available catalysts and the design and development of in-house catalysts tailored for specific requirements. The results obtained from these investigations will be applied to SOFC technology.

Essential Functions:

  • Experience with mass spectrometry including system maintenance.
  • Experience in the reforming of light end hydrocarbons (either POX or steam, both would be preferable).
  • Experience in combustion chemistry desirable.
  • Experience in catalyst design desirable.
  • Ability to apply common catalyst preparation techniques.
  • Relevant experience in SOFC field is desirable.
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel for data analysis

Qualifications

  • PhD qualified in relevant field of study
  • Relevant post doctorial and/or industrial experience
