Production Engineer – Pilot Team Fuel Cell Department
Status: Professional Exempt
SUMMARY: The Production engineer works collaboratively with the engineers and support staff assigned to the Pilot Team of the Fuel Cell department. This processing team will be dedicated to the fabrication of SOFC components and the scaling up of said fabrication process to increase capacity and yields of products, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards. Work will include evaluation of the current processes for scale up and automation potential, working with automation companies to develop equipment needed in the process, as well as optimizing current processes, maintaining established quality standards, and estimating production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
Essential Functions
- Keeps current with all work assignments and activities of all staff assigned to the pilot team
- Participates in weekly experimental planning discussions in regard to status of work in progress
- Generate regular progress reports and collate relevant advances in field
- Keeps supervisor informed on a regular basis on development status
- Complies with laboratory, State and Federal health, safety, fire and environmental policies
- Insures that good housekeeping practices are complied within the working area
- Actively participates in safety awareness and Incident Investigations
Qualifications
- 3-5 years experience in production environment
- BS or MS in relevant field of study (Ceramic Engineering, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, etc.)
- Experience with production start-up and rapid growth preferred
- Experience developing and setting up new production procedures
- Must have excellent communication skills both written and oral as well as interpersonal skills
- Experience transferring technology from development phase to full production is a plus
- Solid computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, etc)
- Knowledge of shipping/transportation of goods will be useful
- Must be capable of teamwork, process improvement, and innovation
- Must also be production and results driven, self-starter
- Knowledge and belief of safe work practices required
- Experience with development of automation equipment a plus
- Experience with SOFC technologies preferred
